LinuxMint 4.0 Daryna KDE CE Beta 011 มา (อีก) แล้ว

เป็นธรรมเนียมไปซะแล้ว ที่จะต้องบ้าเห่อ เอาลินุกซ์ตัวที่ผมชอบ มาตะโกนบอกกันว่ามันออกแล้ว (แม้จะเป็นแค่เบต้าก็ยังเห่อ อิอิอิ)

ขึ้น K Logo มาซะขนาดนี้ แต่ไม่เกี่ยวกับ KDE 4.0 ที่กำลังจะออกแต่อย่างใด เป็นเพราะ Mint ตัวนี้ใช้ KDE เป็น Desktop Environment หลัก อารมณ์ก็จะคล้าย ๆ กับ Kubuntu แต่ก็มีความต่างกันหน่อย ๆ นะ

Mint 4.0 KDE Community Edition ตัวนี้ จาก Release Note บอกไว้ว่าจะมีกลิ่นไอของความเป็น Mint มากกว่า Cassandra หรือ Mint 3.1 ที่มีตัวที่เป็น KDE เหมือนกัน โดยได้จับ Apps ของ Mint ใส่เข้าไป เหมือนกันกับ Mint 4.0 ตัวที่ใช้ DE เป็น Gnome และ XFCE อย่างเช่น ใน 4.0 KDE จะมี mintInstall, mintUpdate และ mintAssistant (ไปดูหน้าตาของโปรแกรมจากบล๊อกที่เคยเล่าไปแล้ว) แถมยังมี Firefox และ Sunbird เวอร์ชั่นที่ดัดแปลงนิด ๆ ให้มีความเป็น Mint ใส่เข้าไปด้วย

KDE เป็น Edition เดียวของ Mint ที่มาเป็น DVD (ขนาดปาระมาณ 1 GB) ถ้าใครไม่สะดวก หรือไม่สามารถเบิร์นแผ่น DVD ได้ ก็มี miniKDE Edition ให้ดาวน์โหลดไปใช้ได้เช่นกัน (แต่ผมยังหา miniKDE ของตัวเบต้าไม่เจอเลยครับ)

และนี่คือข้อควรรู้เล็ก ๆ น้อย ๆ ของ Daryna KDE ตัวเบต้านี่ครับ เป็นปัญหาที่ทางทีมพัฒนาเจอ และยังไม่มีทางแก้ไข เท่าที่ผมอ่านคร่าว ๆ แล้วก็น่ากลัวเหมือนกัน แต่ผมไม่แปลให้นะครับ เพราะไม่ชัวร์ เพื่อน ๆ อ่านข้อความ Original เองกะกันนะคับ

When shutting down or restarting the live CD it will freeze at least 50% of the time at the last step. I had this problem with Gutsy too and have not found a fix for it. Large screen monitors (eg Dell 24 inch) can be a bit scary to setup. The Live CD works and install works, and your newly installed system works. If your screen goes to power save mode or no signal mode during boot/login, just move your mouse to wake it up again. Nvidia card setup: to use envy first edit your xorg.conf file and change the “nv” driver to “nvidia”. Run envy and install the nvidia driver, DO NOT let it modify your xorg.conf file. Strange things can happen to your screen and you may need to reset your computer. For this reason you may want to be in a console session to setup your nvidia card and run “sudo envy -t” from the command line to be safe.

เอาเป็นว่า ถ้าใครอยากใช้ Mint ที่เป็น KDE ก็ลองได้นะครับ แต่ผมว่ารอตัวเต็ม หรือดาวน์เกรดลงไปใช้ LinuxMint 3.0 Cassandra KDE CE (compatible with Ubuntu 7.04) พลาง ๆ ก่อนจะดีกว่าครับ
